Our U16 and U19 Blue remained undefeated to Secure their places in the quarter finals while our U19 Gold won two games and lost one but went through to the last eight on superior goal difference.
Starting early on Sunday morning our U16 team defeated Strong Island 9 - 0 to move into the semi finals against the strong and very talented Spirit Eagles team. W C Eagles came out stronger in the second half and after a strong run down the right Maura Putsch fired an incredible shot into the roof of the net from a narrow angle. A few minutes later Putsch found Michelle Thompson in from of goal with a hard centering pass and Michelle made no mistake from close range to put her team two up. WC Eagles continued to press hard and another cross from Moira Putsch found Montana Flemming on the far post who calmly swept the ball into the net to give W C Eagles a 3 - 0 victory and first place in the 64 team event, scoring an incredible 71 goals and conceding only 2!
In the U19 quarter finals WC Eagles Blue overcame a difficult Maine Majestics team 3 - 0 with goals from Bethany Mink, Katie Gerzabek, and Jessica Unger, while our U19 Gold team fell to a goal in each half by Penn Lanco setting up a semi-final clash with our Blue team. Down to an early goal, WC Eagles gradually took control of the game, with Kelsey Leblanc dominating the midfield, and took the lead when Jenna Seybert fired in two short corners either side of half time. WC Eagles maintained the pressure in the second half and Katie Gerzabek deflected home the third goal to seal the win and a place in the final against Jersey Intensity. In a repeat of last years final WC Eagles Blue held a very talented Jersey Intensity team for 20 minutes but with guest players boosting their team to seven junior internationals they proved too strong and WC Eagles had to settle for the silver medal for the second year in a row.
