Welcome to the online home of WC Eagles Field Hockey

We are a competitive field hockey club located in Spring City, PA. Director of Coaching Jun Kentwell is a former Chinese National Team Player and Coach and current International Umpire. Our focus is on total player development for players ages 8 to 18. We offer private individual and small group coaching in addition to our Club Program. Rates for private coaching are:

Individual: $70/hr
2 Players: $40 each/hr
3 or 4 Players: $30 each/hr

2010 National Futures Championship and Women's National Championship Selections

Junxia

Junxia Joins WC Eagles Coaching Staff

We are very pleased to confirm that Huang Junxia will be joining WC Eagles as a full time coach on 18th May. She will be an integral member of our coaching staff, working with players in our Spring, Summer Camp and indoor training programs, as well as our preparations for the National Hockey Festival and the Disney Showcase.

NATIONAL INDOOR CHAMPIONS!U19 NATIONAL CHAMPS

In all, eight WC Eagles teams came away Pool Champions at the National Indoor Tournament in Virginia Beach. Our U19 White team repeated as U19 National Champions after winning the coveted "A" Pool. Heather Morris was the tournament's leading scorer with 25 goals and her WC Eagles U16 Blue team was the highest scoring team with 45 goals in 7 games.

INDOOR SEASON OPEN TRYOUTS


Open try-outs for the W C Eagles 2011 U14, U16, and U19 Indoor teams will be held on the indoor courts at The Training Center on Sunday the 22nd August 2010.

The times are: Under 14 - 12:00 - 1:30 PM Under 16: 1:30 to 3:30 PM and Under 19: 3:30 - 5:30 PM

These will be open try-outs for our current club members and new players wishing to join us and train and play for W C Eagles.

There will be a 2nd try-out date for players unable to attend on Monday the 30th of August from 7:00 - 9:00 PM - Players unable to attend on the 22nd of August should indicate this on their try-out registration form.

The W C Eagles Indoor training starts on the 1st of November, 2010 and players will train for two hours one day a week through to the National Indoor Tournaments in March, 2011. Each team will play five local indoor tournaments and an NIT Qualifying Tournament. Those teams who qualify will also play in the National Indoor Tournament. Last year 14 W C Eagles teams qualified for the NIT in Virginia Beach, Va in the various age groups with 8 of those teams winning and becoming NIT National Pool Champions, including the top two divisions in both the Under 16 and Under19 age groups.

W C Eagles train at their new field hockey center, The Training Center, just opposite Longstreth hockey shop, in Spring City, East Coventry Township. The Training Center has three full sized indoor hockey courts and is the training site for both the USA Men's and Women's National Indoor Teams. There is also a full sized water based hockey specific turf outdoors for training in the Spring, Summer, and Fall.

W C Eagles training sessions are under the guidance of former Chinese National Team player Jun Kentwell, Jun is assisted by Olympic Silver medalist, World Cup Bronze medalist, and Champions Trophy Gold medalist Junxia Huang the former China Olympic and World Cup Captain, and Scottish Indoor International Rennie Milne.

The W C Eagles Under 12 program is an open program and all players are able to train and play and develop their skills from the ages of 8 through 10. Training groups are based on the players age and ability within this age range.

 


 

Gerzabek Chosen for US National U17 Squad


K GerzabekCongratulations to our junior Katie Gerzabek who has been chosen to play for the USA Under 17 team in the 2010 Pan American Youth Championships to be played in Montevideo, Uruguay from the 13th - 20th March, 2010.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 


 

Congratulations Taryn on Your NCAA Championship!

WC Eagles Alum Taryn Gjurich, a sophomore at the University of North Carolina, is a member of the UNC team which won the NCAA Division 1 National Collegiate Championship yesterday with their 3 -2 victory over the University of Maryland. Taryn scored in the semi final to put the Tar Heels 2 -1 up and on their way to beat the University of Virginia.

Taryn was a part of our very successful WC Eagles U19 team, winning National Hockey Festival, Disney, and National Indoor Tournament "A" Pool titles in her junior and senior years with W C Eagles.

Jun had the honor of umpiring both the UNC vs UVA semi-final on Friday and the NCAA Final yesterday.


Paula

Heimbach Picks Duke

WC Eagles defender Paula Heimbach has verbally committed to play her collegiate field hockey at Duke University. Heimbach also considered Princeton, Stanford, Brown and defending National Champion Maryland before settling on the Blue Devils.
